Andrea Arnold’s got form with most of the themes (place, adolescence, revenge, repression) and deals with them dead well. She absolutely nails Bronte’s sense of frustrated wilderness and the cinematography is probably the best of the year. Brings a harshness to material that’s usually treated far too fucking romantically.

We Need To Talk About Kevin was phenomenal. Beautiful, funny, horrifying. A few of us left the cinema feeling like we’d just had the shit kicked out of us. Amazing.
